what rear end do you have in your silverado?

Hey guys I have a 98 Silverado ecsb z71 and the rear end needs rebuilt bad. I have got estimates on having it gone through and I'm thinking it be the same as putting a take out possibly from a newer truck? Does anyone know what rear would interchange that would be a better unit besides the ten bolt? I do plan on modifying the engine and it will be driven more "athleticly" than a daily driver.

Stock ten bolt with a tru-trac or aftermarket locker can take a beating.

Do a 12 bolt and build it
It will be way better then that 10 bolt

Where you gonna get a 12 bolt that will fit? Pretty rare option. 14bolt or 9inch would be easier.

I agree a 10 bolt will take a beating or if you can find a 6 lug 14 bolt out of a light duty 3/4 ton. I also wonder what the option of finding a 12 bolt out of an older truck and putting the brackets on it. That's what I have under my 93 sierra it is out of a 70 1/2 ton

Dana 60 from a 2011 Ford E250 Van. Has 4:10 gears and some are posi - Semi floater with chevy 8 lug

WMS to WMS is 67" which stock 2002 Silverado is 68 1/2"

Chop off the perchs and weld on some new ones with some shock mounts and youre good to go. I got my Dana 60 for $500 and $100 for the perchs then $70 for the new 1350 U joint and yoke. That dana 60 will take some abuse with 35 spline axles - Just get some 8 lug wheels and call it good

My '93 ECLB 4X4 1500 has the heavy duty chassis option with the 14 bolt limited slip rear. It's basically a light duty 3/4 ton rear with the 6 bolt axle shafts. Gear ratio is 3.73:1.

    Hope your search goes well.
