    Overhead Console

Luke and I took apart the headliner in the truck. It seems I don't have the brace that most tahoes and other trucks have right in the middle so that the overhead console can actually get bolted up to it. Any suggestions?

I made a hole in the headerliner where the front of the console would go, and a small cut on each side of the headliner where the tabs of the console go into the headliner, and used one of the screw holders that hold the dash, and put it inside the factor hole on the roof. Once I got that done, I took off the clips that are on the console and mounted the back of console first. Then just stuck my hand in the hole I made and put the clips back on threw the inside of headliner made sure they were snug and then just screwed the screw in the front of console.

I put a overhead console in my 01' S10, the console came out of an 00' Blazer. My truck didn't have any bracing up there either, we just used some sellf tappers into the outer door frame bracing and used a U channel strip all the way across and screwed the console to it, It actually looks nice and I also got the compass and temperature to work which is even cooler.. Good luck with your truck!!

I like these ideas. Luke talked about putting a U channel or just a piece of steel all the way across, or use like cotter pins on the front packets once its put through the overhead part

This. Hit up a junkyard, buy the brace, burn it in. Then it's all factory and you're not f'ing around trying to rig something up.

Are the cabs not double walled? I've never had the headliner outta one, so I dunno.
