wiring is easy to swap out and not too expensive. If it looks like the aluminum got hot, steer clear. 80e in stock form is awesome.

It will do it fine up to about 500hp. After that you may want to up the holding power of the clutches by adding a boost valve and things. I have a write up I did on mine on here somewhere. I modified quite a bit for strength and it's still going strong even after numerous 10lb bottles of nitrous through it along with about 10k on turbo.

just got the 80 had to pay 250 tho but i think thats a good deal there is not even any sign of burnt damage. when i got to the junk yard the one for 150 that they said was a 80 was really a 60 so they had to pull one out of another burnt truck but it still all worked out, now besides a shift kit what should do to it, and as far as the wireing can the origional 60 plugs be cut off and 80 plugs be spliced in or is it better to just buy an adapter. and do i have to change anything with the speed sence, im swapping a 99 80e in a 2002

While we're on the topic, who prefers the Vacuum Modulator kit over the EPC solenoid?

Also, when installing the trans-go HD2, how far do most people go? Leave the pump alone and just do VB mods? Go all the way and change the springs and snap ring inside the trans? Maybe upgrade the sprag too?

I pull them all the way down and put all the parts of the 80e transgo kit in it plus do the vacuum mod kit. Also like to replace the roller clutch assembly in the center section with an old school support under the rollers(have to grind the little legs off the roller assembly to install it). Another thing I do is put the no-walk bushing on the output end of the transmission. I think the only special tool required to totally redo an 80e is a pump puller.

Funky socket for center support bolt and weird crap if you need to replace any bushings.
