uShip - If you ship stuff, read this...

Not sure if anyone here has used this site, but it's pretty great. It's basically an "eBay" for shipping. In fact, I wonder if it might be owned by eBay. Anyway, you post up what you're selling, where it's at, where it's going, the weight, dimensions, etc. and then transporters or 3rd party brokers bid on the job. Anyone bidding has feedback just like eBay. The customer gives a 0-5 star rating based on punctuality, communication, care of goods, and services as described. So you can see so-and-so has feedback on 450 transactions and has a feedback rating of 4.8 out of 5.0. Then you can read to see complaints, compliments, etc.

I received four bids to ship an engine from Wylie, TX to a little town in Idaho (1500 miles). Shipping from a business to a residential address, I got bids for $457, $228, $259, and $264. All of the lower bidders had great feedback.

Pretty awesome. If you need to ship anything large, definitely give them a try. Oh, and they bid stuff like car transport, household moves, pet transportation, etc.

That's cool. Might be a way to make some extra cash on a road trip too. Good find.

I think this is a great idea. If I ever buy an engine I will suggest it to the seller, hope they are open to it. Might be a good selling point.

Well the bidding got down to $220. That's not bad to ship an engine 1500 miles!

Basically anything. Pets, livestock, heavy equipment, people (yes, you can even find a ride with someone across the country), household moves, etc.
