    92 Silverado 5.3/60e conversion

So this truck started out as a 4x4 K1500 with a 5.7tbi and a 700r4 trans. It is now in the process of being converted to a 2x4 1500 with a mildly built 5.3 and mildly built 4l60e. These were both pullouts at a junkyard out of an 04 Avalanche. The reason for the 2x4 conversion is the cost of an adapter to use my 241c tcase with a newer model 60e. And the pullout of the Avalanche was a 2x4 so I would have had to also convert the trans to 4x4. It just started adding up quick and I'm on a budget...sort of.

So the mods to this 5.3/60e are this:

    2004 5.3 lm7 with 80,000 miles
    TR220/220 112 lsa
    Comp 918's/hardened pusrods
    Vette Filter/EP381 pump
    Schoenfeld lt's
    ls6 intake
Custom HPtuners tune by a friend of mine
    Custom cold air intake
    Ls1 electric fans
    Transgo HD2
    Circle-D 3000 stall
    B&M cooler and deep pan
    Autometer Gauges

Well I started taking pics kind of late so I apologize to you guys for that. Started out by tearing the engine down to a short block to check it out and install the cam and springs. It looked great still showing the hash marks in all 8 cylinders.

Next we installed it in the truck as a long block so that I had room to mount radiator/fans

    Here's a few teasers:

I will do my best to update this with as many pics as possible. Next is the accesories and then the wiring harness.

Thanks. The GTO is a scary mofo to drive on the street with those tires. I'm leaning more towards the flat black with a 2" cowl....Also the truck has 3.73's and a G80 so I will probably stick with that for now.

    Update

Okay So i got a few more things done on this build. Installed fuel pump in tank, installed shift kit, and installed accessories and headers on the motor. The headers will be ceramic coated but I wanted to build exhaust. I still need to do the wiring and order my stall after pay day.

    Here's a few pics

gonna be following this thread as I am starting to jump into the same boat. What are your plans for AC, would a stock 98 vortec fuel pump work for this motor? Stock 34" Radiator work?

if i was you to save on cost, run the stock 350 radiator and over flow tank with efans. i spent 250 on my efans an harness another 100 on JUST the jug another 20 on the cap and they wanted 100 for the hose with the Y in it for the jug, water pump, heater hose. i i was to do it again thats the way i would have gone.
as far as the fuel pump, yes a stock replacement will work but i spent the 200 on a Walbro 255 with hot wire kit vs a stock fuel pump. just my .02

3:73s will be good, im going 4:10s anyways! i need the gear to make up for the lack of converter (its a 2600-2800) im not willing to pull the tranny just to restall it. besides, its just a DD lol

also, you run a Josh Powers custom A/C bracket, itll allow you to run your factory 88-98 A/C

im running a stock crank pulley, Truck Acc, my AC pump. i used 2 idler pullies bc i didnt have access to the right belt at the time. i used my 4.3 tensioner pulley (its a smooth pulley) next to the AC pulley, i then bought another idler pulley for an 04 5.3 to use on my tensioner by the water pump with a 1090K6 it works perfect. i still have to mill down my spacer bc its off by an 1/8"

sorry dont mean to clutter the thread, just explaining what i used on my 94

For now I won't be running A/C but think I'm going to try to run the 5.3 compressor in stock location with a modified frame and a/c mount. The 98 pump will work I'm pretty sure and for the radiator I used a stock 2001 silverado one so I could use the 5.3 hoses and coolant bottle.

Ya mine is a DD too. I'm hoping the stall won't be too big of a deal around town.

I may go that route but I like the idea of being able to take my a/c belt off for dyno and drag runs.

Okay guys so a little update. The truck is up and running. It has been tuned a little but it is not quite ready to be driven daily yet. Still needs some tweaks on timing and fuel curves. And I'm going to drop the idle a little after it is tuned a little more. Right now it is set at 950. I have a couple pics of the engine bay nearly done except for some more wiring clean up. I have this squeak that sounds like it is coming from the bellhousing like the torque converter bolts or something. I can't identify it so listen on the video and see what you guys think. Feel free to ask any questions.
