Thread: Water temp and Tach Not Working

Water temp and Tach Not Working

Ive got the motor fired up and it runs. Ive got a few wiring problems though.

My temp on the cluster is pointed straight down to the floor, not even in the cold-hot range. I have the stock temp sending unit in the back of the passenger head.

My Tach is also not working, it is wired into the white wire behind the glove box which i believe is the tach wire.

Any suggestions/ help would be great. The truck is a 1992 k1500 and the motor is a 2004 6.0L
    Thanks.

guapo, thanks for the info, ill have to pick up a resistor to see if that works.

What would cause my water temp to be so far off? the water temp sensor has only been moved to the other side of the block.

Sounds like you have it grounded instead of hooked to a temp resisitor.

well, i pulled my cluster apart because the odometer froze up a long time ago, i might have messed up the gauge. or that green plastic (circuit board)

I havent hooked up the speedo from the computer yet.
I just took it for a drive and i have the input speed sensor hooked up but not the other sensor thus i believe is why i only have reverse and 1st gear.

I know theres not too many 4wd guys out there, but what is needed to connect to the 2004 4l80e tranny to make it go out of limp mode? my second connector is plugged. its the speed sensor which has the same color wires as the speed sensor on the back of my t-case.. i might splice into them and see if i get any more gears.

Yeah, i have the wires(i believe they are green and purple..cant remember) from the new harness. i just need to splice them into the wires of the sensor on the t-case. So now that the computer is getting the signal, is the signal the right pulse for the computer? also do you know what color wire is the right one to wire for the gauge?
