    Racing in Crystal City Texas

Ancira Ford and The Lions Club are hosting races at the Crystal City Airport. It's just 1/4 mile grudge racing. It's open to everybody and there are no inspections. The track isn't the best....actually it's the worst I've ever seen, but it should still be fun. Most of the cars/trucks that show up to this event are old school backyard builds by your average gearhead. There's a couple high dollar rides out there, but nothing too wild(except for one guy who's on this site...he has a malibu that's gonna be awesome on the track). There's usually a bunch of mustangs and I think most are on nitrous. It would be really cool to see some fast trucks out there. There was a 383 S10 that beat me last year when I ran a 14.4, maybe he'll be out there this year. I know there's supposed to atleast 2 diesel trucks coming out.
Anyway, if any of you are out this way you should stop by and check it out this Sunday. I'm taking my junk pile out there, it's not running right, but this is the perfect time to test and tune it.

I'd love to show up, but I don't have anything to race, that's why I missed the last event.
Stock trans in the av isn't going to last too long, so i don't wanna beat it up.
Trans is out of the ol truck.

Is this once a year and is it happening next year?

They are talking about making it a more frequent event if the turnout is good. I've been pitching suggestions and offering to sponsor a class or two with my own money.
They have timers, but only reaction time, 1/4 ET and MPH. Gates open at 9, registration ends at 11.30, races start at 1pm. I live in La Pryor and I try to make it everytime they have races out there.
Mic, it's this sunday at Crystal City Municipal AirPort(Crystal city is on Hwy 83about 40miles south of US90). Like I said, there's a lot of old school muscle and backyard builds...so don't be expecting to see any 7 or 8 second rides.
They don't want any outside food or drinks, no alcohol, no ice chests...and you gotta bring your own chair. Ricky Cumpian is the guy running the show, if you need to you can call him at 830 374 9310. I don't know the specific address, they usually just tell people to go over to the highschool and it's right across from it. If Ricky doesn't answer, call me at 830 261 8963.

Well I hope you make it Mic, that way there will be atleast one fast truck out here. My junk pile feels like a 15 second truck and I'm pretty sure I'm gonna be getting my ass kicked by big blocks and nitrous stangs all day. Your D-max will surely hurt a few feelings out here.

Mic, you should have came out here...you would have had fun with the other diesels that were out here. There was a nice Duramax truck that ran pretty good, aswell as a Dodge truck and a Ford that ran alright. The mustang guys surely would have wanted a run with you too.
