    204/218 .550/ .550 115 cam require retune ?

I have been told I can run this in my 07 GMC 5.3 without a tune the computer will adjust because the stock cam is 196/200 already is this true ? I know there are better cams I have a shelf of about 10 others that are bigger. I have a repair shop so swaps cost me nothing so I plan on trying a few and wanted to start with the easiest first.

A tune will make your truck so much better so why not get it tuned?

of course your going to need a retune,i mean u can run it w/o a tune but wont get the full potential till u tune it

Makes a world of difference in drivability department. Mine wouldn't idle at all after the install.

it would honestly be a waste of time to put that cam in w/o a tune.

the main reason I asked is I have about 8 weeks to test valvetrain dynamics on 12 cams and 5 rocker setups ? If I could get away without tuning for a couple of the smaller ones it saves time ? figure I would ask as people on here have done trucks before and I wanted to go to the source as I have always dealt with ls1/lsx cars...

Your stock tune will run and idle just fine with that modest cam. Just be sure to power-down the PCM so the long-term fuel trims reset. After about 50 miles of driving, you should be good to go. If you don't already have one, I highly recommend a wide-band O2 sensor to monitor your A/F ratio during your tests.

I spent 6 years working at west tech doing testing for comp cams and alot of others and have seen these pcm's be pretty flexable. Not saying no tune is the way to go by any means, I pay someone with HPtuners for tuning as I do machining and building. When I am done testing I am installing a 210/218 114 .550 cam and a circle d 2800 verter dont wanna get too crazy as I will be towing my cars too the track with this truck when its mine after testing is done.
