Pull the fuel pressure regulator vacuum line off with residual pressure and see if it's leaking through the valve.

What rpm is it idling at?

My 01 4.8 had an intermittent misfire for the last several weeks. It wouldn't set the check engine light. I removed the plugs yesterday and noticed that #3 plug had signs of arcing on the porcelain. I cleaned the plug boot, applied silicone dielectric grease and replaced the plugs. Has been good so far.

Well checked the spark plugs again , they were covered in soot. Replaced tjem and fired it up .now it seems to be dumping fuel ,it just reeks of unburned fuel while it idles. What else can I try to resolve this . Thinking. About replacing the o2's.

If it's not cammed and there is a gas smell at idle, there is a good chance its the O2s. Or a dirty MAF. Something is telling it to run richer than normal...
