cam question for a 6.0 rebuild

Has any one used this cam (XFI™ Xtreme Truck, G3 XFI 266 HR15 ) if so how did you like it? I'm currently rebuilding a 6.0 liter engine for my DD with 10/1 compression and TSP stage 2.5 heads. I would like to hit 400hp to the wheels but still maintain a descent idle. Would that be possible with this cam and if not what kind of HP do think this cam is capable of producing.

You're going to need a lot more cam to get to 400 RWHP. That Comp cam (212/216 .520/.524 115) with the TSP heads in a 10:1 6L will get you to about 340-350 RWHP. The good news is it will have a decent idle. You're going to need something in the 232/234 range to reach your goal, but then you wouldn't have a DD with a decent idle.

Check out this thread: Lq4 tr224 prc stage 2.5 heads - PerformanceTrucks.net Forums This truck put down 409rwhp with an LQ4, with Prc Stage 2.5 5.3 heads, and a TR224 cam.

A 114 won't be too bad, but that's just my opinion...I wouldn't mind it. It would probably sound like an old school muscle car, and there's nothing wrong with that!

With full exhaust it definitely will. If the idle is too rough/loud then just get a bigger muffler. My truck with a Magnaflow sounds tame compared to when I have my cutout open or when i have a tiny bullet on there.

    What?

Please explain how muffler size affects idle quality.

OK, it doesn't affect the actual idle but it affects the sound. When I first completed my swap I played around with a lot of mufflers to find one I liked best. I had a Flowmaster that was pretty noisy and sounded nasty at idle. Then I tried a Hooker Aerochamber and it was actually quiet compared to the Flow. With the Hooker on, the idle sounded very mellow, as if the cam had a 115 lsa. That's what I meant, alright.

So i guess you would need at least a 3000k stall for the TR224 cam?
