4L60E.. a 2500 is a decent stall. What do you plan to do about mods?

4l65e is the trans in your truck

2500 stall is a waste IMHO for any kind of performance. Id wait till you decided on what the direction of truck is before buying a stall that might be to small.

As far as I know you should have the 4l60e. The 65e had the same case with stronger internals that was used in I think SS trucks and f-bodies.... a 60e can be built to 65e specs though I believe....
With the stall +1 on the stall being too small. Id find a cam you wanted to run before you decided on stall size. But if that is the direction you are wanting to go... 3000 is a good stall size, My trans hasnt ever had heating issues with the one I have. And most smaller cams will work well with it.

03 Silverado- Last incarnation 13.6... RIP
Ls1, Pnp heads, Polluter camshaft, spray, 4k stall on the way

Wow, if you were to do a 220/220 .581/.581 cam, you would need a 3000 stall at minimum. Check out Circle D, one of our site sponsors.

05 was the first year for the 65e tranny in trucks, but they were installed later in the 05 model year. Hell, even some 06s were still running 60e trannys. Like Ian said, the case is the same, so no worries on fitment. The only thing different were beefed up internals--and even at that--nothing special.
