How high can you spin stock rods...

With ARP bolts? Just got 6.0, a cam, ported heads and LS1 intake. Wondering what I should set my limiter at? 6500 is what I've heard about these powdered metal rods. I went and rebalanced the rotating assembly and suprisingly the rods and pistons were already within 1 gram! Good goin GM! Just had to take out about 8 grams from the crank. I thought that was pretty cool that factory stuff is getting to be that consistent. So what have you guys experienced with these rods??? I'm hoping to hear some good catastrophic stories lol

Wow that's pretty darn high. Are you running ARPs as well? I think 7200 is probably more than my engine would ever see. As long as the intake and cam don't let it fall on it's face I was thinking of cappin off at 7000.

Mine is a stock bottom end 5.3 with 120k miles on it. I do have comp 918 springs, hardened pushrods and a bigger than stock cam. If you spray N2o i would do the rod bolts. Im planning going 6.0 in the spring though....

Ya I have all the valve train upgraded and I don't plan at all to run nitrous. Dang so I should definitely be good to 7k. That's so awesome haha. Ya my buddy hits stock limiter all the time so I guess they would definitely set it a bit early for the general public.

6600rpms is pretty common, actually almost all moderate to big cams shift at that.

Ya that's where I figure I'll be in range of for the most part. Probably won't be making power after 6600.

I spin my stock ass 5.3 with 223k on the clock to 6100. As soon as I swap cams it will jump to 6300. As far as I knew quik was going up to in the 7500 range on his stock bottom end 4.8 with the PT88.

7500 is insane haha. Especially since I'm used to Gen 1 big blocks and small blocks. Bolt ons are lucky to see 5800 still making power lol.
