    Question 85 El Ko with 04 LS1 & 4l60e Swap. HELP

    I just finished stuffing a LS1 & 4L60e trans into my 85 El Camino.
Had the new computer married to old harness so my stock gauges would work.

The dude that did the work was Oscar Perez Hot Rod Controls.
I later found out that he is a flake. So I am looking for some help and advise to finish the things he never did.
Fortunely the truck runs great and is driveable.

But the tach and speedo don't work and I need to install the smog equipment and get it register in Ca.
Before the CHP stops me and tows it out from under me.
You know they take that unregistered vehicle thing very seriously.

So if anyone can tell me what smog equipment I need and how to get the
tach and speedo working I would greatly appericate the help.
The engine ia out of and 2004 GTO.

    Thanks,
    Joe

What's the rule for vehicle age in Cali when you no longer have to go through smog checks? 25 years? You're there!

If not, you're almost there anyway because the 2004 GTO doesn't have smog pumps or EGR if I remember correctly. All you have to plumb in is the fuel vapor (evap) canister and solenoid.

Dakota digital makes speedo equipment for conversions.

Sorry to hear you met the infamous Oscar Jaurez/Perez.

No they changed it to 30 years.

Is the solenoid the little electirc valve under the fuel rail.

I am sorry I met him too. He was no great bargin. I still owe him about $125.
surprised he hasn't been in touchj with me.

    Thanks,

If he still owes you work then you don't owe him money.

Yeah, thats the solenoid. The vapor hose should be routed to your old charcoal canister. Hopefully you still have that since it is a Cali car.

I kept all the calif smog stuff. That should be easy enough.

I still owe him for parts. So I thought he would stay in touch.

What year PCM/tune did he put in your setup? Are you drive by electronic wire or cable type throttle body? yeah, Red10 would be the tach signal but it might need to be adjusted in the tune to match your tach. Factory or aftermarket tach?
