Talking I found a 6.0l that came off....

a hummer. After doing some search on the forums, ebay, local sale forums; i found this 6.0L. Will it fit the 2003 suburban, i am planning on taking a drive down to S.A, TX and have Nelson Performance do the work for me. If this fits what do you guys recommend i change on the engine as far as performance goes or needing it to run. Could you guys give me some pointers

    Thank you,
    Miza

Keep truck for another 10+ yrs. As far as power goes, I would like to put another couple 100 horses. Truck will be mainly used for family trips and pictures. : P

Want to also install a nice exhaust system to it.

Im just a 21yr old that has had this truck since graduating in 05 and working in UPS and now... jeje im doing good. I really dont know what else is needed. My old folks lost hopes of returning to mexico in december because of the truck issues. The engine is knocking and will not respond to the pedal, i want to really keep the truck in the family since its been extremely loyal to us. She is about 8/10 from the outside and 9/10 in the inside.

Long tube headers with ORY, nice exhaust, Camshaft of the right size, and a tune should give you almost an extra 100hp. You WILL have to build your current trans to handle this power. Been there and in the process of doing that.

Although if you want to use it for trips and such, I wouldnt go to radical on the hp...IMO

Was kind of wanting to stay away from messing with the trans. I will stick with engine and nice exhaust system, also looking to buy the ltz silverado wheels, those wheels are mouth drooling on the surburban

Theres no way to get around it. I dont mean to be a party pooper, but even 6.0 with a tune will need a beefed up trans. A stock 4L60E trans cant hold that much power/weight for long.

Are you going to get the trans out of the hummer? I beleive they are a 4L80E.
Which would handle the power better than even a built 4L60E. Even though the 4L80E will be a hassle to put in, it will be less of a hassle in the long run.

The 4L80E will be the better option of the two for holding power. I would find a good trans guy in your area and tell him what you plan to do. He could then beef up your trans based on that.

I myself will probably end up getting a stage III from FLT for about $1,600.
