    new from southern il.

my name is travis, new to this forum, i had a 2000 sierra with a 5.3, full exhaust, cammed, built 4l60. i recently traded it in on an 08 4.8, 4wd "pooch" i'm trying not to void my warranty until it's out. 3"lift, badly done, extreme cv angles my upper control arms ride on the steel bump stops off the frame. blocked the rear, maxed out the stock shocks. flowmaster cat back with a single 2.5 pipe. k&n drop in filter descreened the maf, polised the maf body. drive by wire, bad throttle responce, "why did i buy this?" it's on 33's with horrable incubis offroad wheels that are 10 months old chrome that looks 20 years old. pits... give me some info on picking up power. wanna keep the warranty, so no spraying, or turbo kits, maybe a magna charger, i could put it back to stock in a day, if i do need warranty work. i'm interested in rockers, full exhaust , nothing that's noticeable. like a cam lope, or n.x. selonoids, what mods work, what's hype?

Well then, welcome to LS1truck, first of all lets see some pics of your ride. Second, what are your overall goals for the truck, lifted, performance, towing/hauling?

Good luck. You're going to need FI or NOS to get to your goals with that pig without replacing the 4.8 for a 6.2 or something equivelant. You've got probably a 17 second 1/4 mile truck at this time, 13s are a big reach from where you are.

it's doable it's a regular cab short bed i have a friend with an 05 with a 5.3 cam, self-ported heads, stock bottom end and a 125 shot on 35's running a low 13. his only week link has been his transmission.

he has a 5.3L cam in his 4.8L engine? Didn't I say it would take FI or NOS? Go get a baseline time and let us know where you stand before you start making changes.

we're running at gateway international, in madison illinois, you might be able to find pictures of his at brett keptner photos.com. his is an 05 with a 5.3l comp cam not sure on the size or dur. regular cab short bed. long tubes, wet 125 shot self ported herds and a 2300 stall "i think." mine has a 4.8 and i'd be glad to swap it out if not for the 100xxx mile warranty, that's the same reason i haven't ordered the bds 6" high clearence lift. i was told anything larger than 33s voids the warranty on the tranny, i don't trust the 4l60 much. even with a shift kit. it's still a 4l60.

If you are going for speed I'd say lower that sucker and put everything you can on that 4.8 and make her scream!
