    New from NH

    Greeting from New Hampshire!

I wont beat around the bush with the un-important stuff, so here it is.

Im here from Full Size Chevy, which is a great forum, but geared more towards the "other" stuff, rather than what Im really interested in.

    Vehicle:

    04 Silverado 1500, 4.8l V8
    ECSB

    Mods (of importance):

Custom exhaust, Flowmaster 40 series muffler, dual exit in front of both rear wheels, 4" slash cut tips, heat coated.

    W-4-M tune

    Future plans:
Pro charger on the 4.8 to see what I can make
6.0 swap w/pro charger to see what I can make
6.0 w/1-2 turbos is the final goal

Ive done a fair ammount of "projects" and the truck was supposed to be a means to haul the other toys around, and a DD which would not be modded...that never lasts long.

The next tuning session will be with Performance Dyno in Concord, NH. I was referenced here by my friends at Automotion Saab Volvo in Billerica Mass, who were a big part of the tuning/build of my last project, a 300+whp, 350+wtq Saab.

Pics will be up in the next post!

I dont have many great pics of the truck, but here is how she sits right now.

And a quick exhaust video, sorry for the editing errors, it got a bit mixed up during the upload.

Welcome to LS1truck! You'll love it here! Nice lookin truck--sounds good too! Not bad for a 4.8L... In the vid, I felt like I was hanging out the window for a while... I would almost scrap the idea of modding the 4.8L on a heavy ECSB 4WD truck. If you want performance, I would skip it all and jump right up to a 6.0L. Start out with bolt ons and a cam--and see where you get on all motor. From there, then you should decide wether you should go with a Procharger...

    Thanks!

BangBang - Ill do a quick wirte up on how we routed the exhuast when I get home, and try to snap some better pics.

txar - thats what Im really leaning towards right now...however after having a long conversation with the Pete at Performance Dyno in NH, who will be my new tuner...things will turn dismal quickly for my stock tranny...perhaps I will do the tranny/motor swap all in one.

Also, can anyone point me in the direction of the vehicles the LQ4 6.0's came out of?

    TIA,

    Coop

Haha, the camera actually was hanging out of the window!

And to the question about the exhaust...let me explain it real quick, maybe Ill snap some pics this weekend but she's dirty right now and the garage is full of other fun stuff.

The muffler is a 40 series transversal muffler, one like you might see on a Grand Prix where it sits perpendicular to the chassis between the two tips. In other words, it has an inlet and an outlet on one side, and an outlet on the other side. The muffler sits parallel to the frame, with the inlet/exit side facing foward and the exit only side facing back.

    Like so:

But the side you see on the left, is an inlet and and outlet, not two outlets like on most SI/DO mufflers.

The exhuast runs from the stock Y pipe, into the muffler, then the passengers side exhaust runs back along the frame rail and out in front of the rear wheel. The passenger side is the side running out of the back of the muffler.

The drivers side runs foward along the inlet from the Y pipe, then crosses over to the drivers side. Because of the gas tank, it hangs a bit below the frame rail as it runs back to the drivers side rear wheel.

This overhang can be seen if you look closley in the above pics, but is masked well because of my running boards. The exhaust is also heat coated black, which helps it blend into the running boards/frame rail.
