Hello Guys,
My Name is Noah and I am new on here. I have been searching this forum but need to pick your guys' brain a little. I have a 1999 Tahoe that I have been building for a few years now and after all the chassis work has been done I have decided that I want to change the 5.7 motor out for an LS style 6.0 liter and 4l80e trans. One of my business partners is into turbochargers and has convinced me to put a single turbo onto my setup.
This is my dilemma now I have a complete LQ4 engine and 4l80e trans setup from a 2000 hd truck but I need to know what I need to use to put it in my truck. I am a good mechanic but am wondering what mounts kits to use and what wiring is needed to adapt the 6.0 motor and tranny computers to my 1999 tahoe. I know someone on here can steer me in the right direction so I don't waste time and money. I am just excited to get this guy on the road.
The other question is about the engine setup. I have planned to use a 74mm-76mm turbo, the stock 6 liter manifolds and fab up a kit with a front mount cooler. I only want to run about 6 lbs and be able to put it up to 10lbs on seldom occasions and was wondering what would be required for the motor to handle the boost? Anyone running the stock manifolds? Injectors size? I am at the least going to put some MLS gaskets on and ARP studs and make sure the tune is extra safe but I would love your suggestions.
Thank you guys for the help and I will keep you posted with pics as I go forward with this project.
PLEASE reply with ANY suggestions and Thanks Again.
