Im thinking about gutting my cats on a stock 5.3. Could anyone tell me the pros and cons on doing this. Will it be loud with a super 40 flow. And if i should do it, should i just drop them and punch them out?

i would just get long tubes and an ory. With no cats.

Comming soon :Cam ,Nelson Tune, LT Headers and the works.
Im getting pacesetter LTs later when money allows. But for now just gut them?
I wouldn't. Its only worth a few hp. Plus, if you go ORY in the future you can actually sell the stock cats, you couldn't sell gutted cats

There is no benefit on your vehicle. It would smell pretty bad though.
Keep the cats, buy the long tubes and y-pipe, then scrap the old cats for $140 or so. That way your old cats payfor almost half of the headers.

Thanks for the info. Still cant decide on what to do though.
I have a question because I was thinking about doing the same thing but they do emissions testing here. So is gutting them bad?
I know this is off topic, but where are you guys selling your stock cats?
