I have been tossing around the idea of getting a magnacharger Radix System for my 2006 Crew Cab Z71.

But my wife is on me about the gas mileage. I currently get 15mpg. Would a Radix effect the mileage just driving normal. I know for a while I will be on it all the time making the gas mileage go down, but as far as just cruising down the highway is there any negative effect.

Second Question is the transmission. I have done a lot of reading and it seems like the trans is weak. Alot of the guys who blow up transmissions have alot more done than just the standard Radix. Will the transmission hold up to just the radix kit with no other mods. For a while I would just run the kit stock. Is the trans strong enough for the stock radix kit and tune?

Thank you for the help.

Ok, I will try and make this as short as possible:

1. Gas mileage--Will be decreased significantly because no matter what you say , you WILL have your foot stuck in it because you WILL NOT be able to wipe the grin off your face. If the wifey puts yo nuts in a sling and are forced to get better mpg, you should see a 1 (maybe 2) mpg decrease. 1 mpg is nothing for her to get bitchy about. And yes, you can tell her I said that so you won't get in trouble.

Also, a S/C will get worse mpg than a turbo. With a turbo, you can stay below the spool-up rpm points so that you can retain specific gas mileage parameters. A S/C is instant boost--no matter the rpm--because it is run off the crank. If the crank has to turn that accessory, you are loosing mpg.

2. 4L65e--While a bit stronger than the 4L60e, it still will be demolished. You may get lucky and get it to live with you for a while. I say drive it till you have to replace it. When you do, consider the bigger, wayyyyyy stronger brother, the 4L80e. It will handle your new power pretty easily. Or you could have your 4L65e built. But, the bottom line is that you WILL tear that thing up rather quickly.

Ive got a Radix on my truck and it can effect gas mileage good and bad. When i drive it very nice it gets around 18mpg. When i drive it like i normaly do its.... alittle lower. Problem is you have to run 93octane all the time. The kit i got is intercooled and came with new injectors and reprograming for the engine and transmission. Im not sure what trans i got but ive had the SC on there from day one and now i have 53000miles with no problems. Keep to your regular maintence and use good filters and stuff and its a blast to drive.

The same here. My 5.3 is the higher compression L33. I run it just like Magnuson upplied it. I had an ATV worth 5k that I rarely used. I sold it get a toy I would enjoy every day.
Gas mileage is only effected by your foot.
My transmission is in fine shape. I've had it on since 6/05.
If you run it like they supply it it will last. Start tweaking the tranny, adding nitro, smaller pulleys and do loots of burnouts and such it will break. I did add the Vette servo to the tranny but Magnuson knew it and tuned it accordingly.
It gives you an element of surprise in traffic.
A truly professional turn-key kit. Get an experienced installer and pay the price for the reliability. If a newbee installs it you are on your own.
I absolutley love it. The Corsa exhaust is like it was made for it. No cab resonance either. See my signature. Absolutly no regrets.

Alittle late but im going to add my 2 cents

Im going to tell you like they told me its not will, its when will it go out. To be honest I and everyone else nows that these trannys are too good rather it be because the heat or horsepower, they dont last to long. Dont get me worng there are very few people out there with moded cars that have the trans still working in there cars but ask them what kind of mods and how they drive, power adders kill transmissions cause of the added power, heat, and stress. Servos, shift kit, deep pan, and trans cooler might extend the life abit.

As for the supercharger if your driving it completley out of boost there should be no decrease in MPG, but do expect about 1MPG decrease cause even when trying to stay out of boost youll get a pound or 2 changing lanes and what not. In my truck I have alot of torque, and the supercharger is rather throttle dependent, I will have full at only 2000 RPMS, this thing is gas crazy. To be honest my truck can be seen at a gas station near you.
