How do you know if tuning is doing any good ? If you Dyno at one place , AND THE GUY STATES HIS DYNO IS 20 to 30 % OFF , LOWER ,you go somewhere else and it shows a small amount of gain , how do you know that the gain you are seeing is true gain or just difference in Dynos ?
I know from tuning that a stock motor will do so much and that is it , period unless you put something in or on it to boost the engine , like Cam , Blower , NO2 .
Just like adding stripes gains you 5 hp , NOT . Tuning for exhaust , with or with out cats might get you 2 hp , maybe .
What tuners tune for is the difference in VE (air) , Fuel , Spark when something is added , slight differences really don't effect the tune any or very little , unless something major (Cam , Boost , NO2) is added to effect the engines VE (air) , Fuel , Spark mixture .
A stock motor is a stock motor , can't make it do more than it is suppose to without adding something , so if someone says they got 25 horse gainfrom a stock motor without adding something into (Cam) or onto (Blower , NO2) the engine they might be stretching the truth a little .
