just thought id post what i am having done to my truck, would like a little feed back.

a couple months ago i had a local GM performance company install a 212/218 camshaft, underdrives, ported throttle body, headers, LS6 valve springs, and a couple other things including a computer retune. the truck made a good 300 rwhp. not bad for a 4.8 with a 5 speed. now hangin out with those guys, they are installing me a T-56 and an LS7 clutch to handle my driving skills, due to the fact that my stock tranny and clutch are now talking to me louder than my exhaust. i founf out last night one of their customers has an 05 GTO with the LS2 in it. it has the biggest camshaft in it for the stock heads, ported throttle body, and a few other bolt ons. well anyway this engine made 453 rwhp. the GTO owner is selling this engine of only 25000 miles as is for 3 grand, to make way for his new 415 ci small block. i have put a deposit on the GTO engine. I would liek a little feed back as to what i can expect outta my truck with this engine tranny combo. my truck currently runs a 4.11 gear, in a couple months i will be replacing them with recommended 5.33s. well thats it for now thanx in advance.

You'll have real problems running the LS2 engine if it does not have the correct reluctor on the crankshaft. You may have to get an LS1/LS6/5.3/6.0 crankshaft installed in the engine for it to communicate with your older PCM. You will also need extensions for the camshaft sensor(its on the front timing cover instead of in the back of the block) and for the knock sensors ( they are on the driver side of the block near the oil pan). You'll also have to take your knock sensors off your old engine and mount them in place of the LS2 units. That will require you having the holes drilled and tapped for the older style knock sensors. Beyond that you will have to install your oil pan and oil pick up tube, intake and exhaust manifolds and get the PCM reprogrammed to handle the larger cubic inches. You'll most likely need bigger fuel injectors but I could be wrong on that one.

The LS6 uses the same crankshaft as the 03 silvy. The LS2 is different. I suppose they know that but you might ask them how they will address the reluctor wheel issue for sure.
