    I,m interested in swapping a 6.0 in place of a 4.3 v6 in a 04 1500 2wd

The truck has an auto trans. My question is does a v6 trans work with the 6.0? Firstly bellhousing bolt pattern? As well as durability? I,m sure this is a noob question and i,m relying on the knowledgable members of the forum to help me out. I checked the swap info on the site and couldent find any info on this. Do both engines use 4L60E,s? Id like it if the same trans was used for both engines! Like older GM th350,s ect. Thanks to anyone willing to help.

Yep, the transmission will bolt right up to the 6.0L. However, don't expect the transmission to last very long if you flog it all day long. 6.0L likely had a 4l80e infront of it before, and going to the 4l60e is a fairly big downgrade.

The 4l60E is what is used in camaros correct? So i think i,m okay with it especially if i had some work done to it. I,m gonna assume (ha ha) that i can just get the v8 1500 engine mounts and bolt the engine in?
I guess id need a v8 radiator/hoses. Ill use an after market intake maybe for an SS model if any are available.
I would like to use the factory exhaust manifolds. Then maybe get the exhaust, headers to cats from a junkyard 5.3 1500 and an aftermarket cat back system. Now ive been reading the factory ac comp hits the frame rail. Is this true in the newer body styles? Whats the soulotion? Any thoughs am i on the right track?

Wrong. The right side engine mount will mork fine from a 5.4 or 4.8. The 6.0 wounts will not work on either side. In the left side of the engine, you have to take the lower v6 mount and use the upper 5,3 4,8 mount. I believe if you get the engine mounts right and the engine sitting in there correctly you wont have a prob with the a/c, but you need to get and a/c system from any v8 motor. The tranny will work, for a little bit with no abuse, but it will not bolt right up. There are going to be gaps on both sides of the housing. Check of the v8 conversion threads. There are plenty of 6.0 swaps threads.

the connector wont even plug into the 60e trans you will operate in 3rd gear only. you have to change to a 80e and also a different drive shaft due to the larger output shaft in the 80e ...or.... you can have a built 60e to run behind it but you would have to find out about other computer options. the tranny will bolt up fine................................Red03silss the block is the same as an ls1 no bolt up issues.
