Just make them do it correctly. You should not have to work around their engineering if it doesn't make sense. For what they charge for TCs they should bolt right in without any issues.

    RED,

THATS BASICALLY WHAT I TOLD THEM. I DIDN'T WANT STRESS FRACTURES FROM THE DRILL HOLES LATER DOWN THE ROAD. THEY SAID THEY WOULD MAKE IT RIGHT. ALSO, I HAVE ONE OF THEIR STALLS IN MY TRUCK NOW AND IT WORKS IMPROPERLY. WHEN I GET THE NEW ONE IN THEY ARE GOING TO TAKE THE OLD ONE BACK AND CREDIT MY ACCOUNT. WHAT A DEAL DOUBLE THE LABOR FOR ONE STALL CONVERTER.

In the past all gm cars had 3 bolt holes in the TC. The only ones that had 6 were diesels and 3/4 ton and above trucks. My SS (with 4L65e) only has 3 bolt holes and has been fine. I guess it's too late now but I would say if 3 hole lines up you are good. I have ran 3 bolt TC's behind the big block in my chevelle. Sorry I caught this late.

He's using the 4L80E in one bad ass high horsepower/torque engine. Three bolts may be okay but I sure wouldn't trust holding onto 500+ hp with three little 10mm bolts.

I'm not trying to beat a dead horse but the TC's for THM 350/400's were pretty much all 3 bolt ones. The old Chevelle is no slouch, prob around 4-425 rwhp and I never had any problems. It would take a hell of a lot to shear them. What I just considered though is the rotating mass of the 4L80 and it prob takes a lot more to turn the pump on that. My SS only has 3 bolts and I'm prob in the neighborhood of 475-500 flywheel horsepower but I have a puny 4L65...guess I'll step up one day and do the 80 conversion though.
