My last dyno session with the Nelson tune in it, also had Z06 cam made 266 hp / 263 tq. Ok I go back today to dyno with my new verter and tranny, also my tuning, and it puts down a measly 217 hp!!! Heres the kicker, my rwtq is 301!!! No spiking on the chart, WTF!? I am very happy with the torque numbers, but where the hell did my hp go?

You must have not had the convertor locked.

well we did lock the converter on one run and it only pulled out 220/266. The place I went to had an ok dyno and the operator could have done better, but I mean the torque numbers came out great for my setup. I wasnt expecting anywhere near 300 ftlbs at the wheels!! The torque is very flat and peaks at 3500. hp peaked at around 4800, i do have larger tires than last time but only by about .3 inches. but losing nearly 50hp is rediculous. Maye its time to look into the tune, if anyone here has hptuners and would like to look I can shoot you the files.

chris, pm me the tune. I'd like to look at your tranny settings. It took me awhile to get mine where I wanted it and the truck feels like it has a stock converter at normal acceleration but runs like a scalded ape at full throttle.

Yeah I will get those to you on Sunday, i need it to feel like a stock stall, right now its just feeling weird. I know the tranny settings have something to do with the hp, and i didnt lock the verter on the dyno.

dynos are a tuning tool only, you could go to 10 different dynos and get different numbers everytime.

A fully built trans has heavier and more parts to turn, but not that much.
It could have been the heat, I know with this kind of heat we've been getting, dyno #'s suck.

good luck,

Yeah my trims are 0'ed out, they cannot get any more perfect. My WOT AFR error % is -1/+1. So i know WOT is dialed in. I have been working on the timing also per the graph. Building it up and dipping it at peak torque and modeling the AFR curve after that. There is not much more work the engine needs, i think the trans tables need a bit of tweaking but thats it. But the trans is fully built like Allen stated so that could be soaking up some HP, but I wouldnt think almost 50! I will see if everything looks ok Wednesday when I install my TR 7.425" pushrods to make up for the base circle on the Z06 cam.
