I'm wondering what kind of mileage other LS1 conversions are getting . I have a 98 LS1 with no Nelson tune as yet in my 94 half ton . She still has the stock gears which I think are 3: 08 and a 4L60 tranny . I went up to north Mississippi this weekend to look at a house and topped off with 93 octane before I left. I'm figuring pretty close to 20 mpg and that was running the a/c most of the way and cruising at about 75mph with the occasional burst up to 90 . Does this sound right and would a Nelson tune improve the mileage ? I was really thinking I'd get closer to 22mpg . I was also amazed at gas prices up there . I paid $2.76 for premium up there versus $3.19 down here in N.O. Thanks

Your truck is very similar to what mine was years ago. I remember when I had the 3.42's, stock ls1 and auto, it got about 26mpg, no kidding!
Our trucks are pretty light, so we get a tad better mileage.

Ya, we normally get feedback of 1.5 2mpg increase from a tune.

later,

Is your truck an rcsb or ecsb?

I wonder what the weight difference is between a reg cab short bed, and an extended cab short bed. Assuming everything else is equal that is.
