    Thumbs down

Took the truck for it's first ride around the the block today. All I can say is...WOW! I'm impressed. MUCH better than I anticipated. Can't get this grin off my face. To anyone that is considering this swap, I say, GO FOR IT! It's worth all the hard work. Thanks to everyone that answered my calls for information, you definitely helped make this happen. Thanks again, Gar

White 1996(39,000 miles) GMC Fleetside Shortbed, 2001 Camaro SS LS1/4L60E(3,000 miles), Engine stock except for Crane 1.8 Ratio Gold Roller Rockers, ARP Head Studs/Nuts & Street & Performance Type lll Headers. Converted to all Corvette Accessories(Dampner, P.S. Pump/Reservoir, Alternator & bracket, etc.) Replaced the factory low A/C compressor with a high passenger side S & P Sanden 508 compressor & mounting hardware/pulleys. Jesse Bubb harness conversion & computer reprogram. Engine installed as low as possible & up against the firewall. Driveshaft shortened 3.85", new U-joints & rebalanced. Completely disassembled rear-end & ground smooth, welded axle tubes to pig, sandblasted all brake backing plates, drums, U-bolts, etc., powder-coated everything black. Eaton Posi Unit w/3.42 gears installed. Also, welded on ears off the bottom of the axle & fabricated nickel-plated torsion bars going forward to mounts on the bottom of the frame rails. Same with leaf springs & shackles, completely dissasembled, blasted & powder-coated black. Reassembled with Energy-Suspension bushings. Rear axle flip, bagged & Super-C Sections to frame. Energy-Suspension axle stops. 2" front lowering spindles. Energy-Suspension front A-Arm Bushings. (4) New KYB Mono-Max Shocks, bushed by Energy-Suspension. 2 1/2" self-fabricated exhaust to a stainless MagnaFlow 5" x 8" (#12468) dual in, dual out muffler. Complete front-end removed, frame, steering, inner fender wells, core support, etc., prepped & painted with satin-black epoxy. Energy-Suspension transmission mount. BellTech 1 3/8" front sway-bar, BellTech 1" rear sway-bar, also bushed with Energy-Suspension Urethane bushings & clamps. Rear fiberglass roll-pan with hidden, flip-up license-plate, trailer hitch. Aero-Quip heater hoses, P.S. hoses, etc...I could keep going with the zillion other smaller items, but you get the idea. In retrospect, I think I might be crazy doing all this...until that first LS1 powered ride! Still have that "bird-that-caught-the-canary" grin. Thanks again guys. Gar

Will get a photo later on when the trucks totally finished. Gar
