Ok guys, the ls1 truck has the truck intake. I recently built a race tranny for it and installed a vigilante 3600 in it. The truck has 342 gears with 29.5 inch tall tires. This gear and weight is stalling the truck awful high. It seems to be slower since the converter, is this because it isnt making the torque due to the truck stalling at like 4400. I am going to install a 410 gear for sure to ease the stress on the converter. My question is should I convert to a ls1 intake and make the horsepower or should I go with a smaller stall or should I just put the 410's in and the stock converter to keep this machine lookin stock. The ls1 has a z06 cam installed, and im not sure how the numbers on torque are with this cam, if it makes power from down low or just mid to high.
I know the cam likes rpm but will it make power from the bottom as well and will the intake make power through several rpm's. The truck with the stock converter was tuned to shift at 6400 and rev limit at 6600, after the converter install it didnt seem to be making any power up there, so we brought it back down to like 5600 and limit at 5800.
the main thing is the intake, are any of you guys making power with high stalls and are you able to run around 6100 or 6200, this is where I would like to be. I really hope you guys can give me some good info, I need all the help and advice I can get.

keep in mind that with the 410 installed the converter should stall closer to the 3600, prolly about 3700 or 3750

thanks for your help in advance

I too am running the 3600 Vig convertor and it's just as loose as your's is. I am running a T/A LS1 and it loves the RPM. The truck manifold is good, you won't gain much from the LS1 intake, maybe a little with the LS6. I'm not sure where mine stalls at since I don't have a tach installed.

When I was NA, I had the TR 224 on 112. Allen had it at 6,300 & it still pulled...I was just too scared to run it higher than that. Stock stall.

You won't have any trouble getting 7K through a truck intake. They flow almost as well as a LS6. It will take a cam and springs to make power this high. Right VV8?

ok thanks pal, appreciate the help, it shifted at 6400 with the stock stall and felt good but it would hit the rev limiter telling me the tranny was tired so I went all out and now im regretting it, im thinking of going with a 2000 stall now instead and tuning to shift a little tighter.....just trying to get some ideas from some guys who have already been through this.

thanks again

I got the ls6 cam and springs, they say they are good to 7500, so should I be alright? I am shooting for aroun 6200 to 6400.....just have to figure this all out cuz it isnt making any power now, feels like a terd
