i dont know about you guys but ive always had bad luck with 10bolt rears ( at least the 28spilne ones anyways) so my plan was to swap it out with a rear that never made it into my chevy sport, from what i was told it came out an eairly 90s ( not sure if it was newer body stlye or not ) 2500 silverado, its a 14bolt so im assumeing it has 4.10s or 4.56s, but its a six lug and im pritty sure its the same bolt patteren as my 2000silverado, ive never seen a 14bolt before that wasnt an 8lug, besides the 14bolt 5 lug that were in the 454ss's, so my question is has anyone else tried swaping one of these? it looks like ill need bigger u joints and ubolts but that should be about it, but im not sure if the driveshaft would have to be shortened, any input would be great thanks

see my picture on the left, does the cover look look that???? thats a 9.5" 14 bolt. the 14 bolt in the 454 ss truck is a 9.5" semi floating 5 lug. the 6 lug 9.5" came in the 7200lb 1500 trucks. as long as it came out of the same style truck that you have (new or old bodystyle) it will bolt in. get new u-bolts and spring plates. and you will new a new drive shaft or shorten the one you have. they also made a 8 lug verson of it also. the brakes are bigger on it!!!!!. you might need a different master cylinder if the rear brakes lock up. the rear shoes that fit them are the most expensive shoes i've ever gotton. my 9.5" 8 lug in my jeep has some crazy size 11.175x2.750????
thay were 130.00 from schucks!!!, when they fall off they are going to discs.....great axle. i like the 9.5" 14bolt. i dont tink they came factory w/4.56 gears.. they did have 4.10/3.73/3.42
38" swampers, 350 tbi, 14 bolt rear, 10 bolt front
