    Pnp prnd switch

    I'm new here and i'm doin a conversion useing a 2003 5.3 and 4l60e . My question is now that i have removed the un needed wires from the harness i still have all the wires left for the bottom plug on the trans shifter switch. I was under the impression that that was deleted out also . This is goin into an 82 c10 2wd . TIA

    I didn't use one on my '81 2002 5.7 4l60e setup.

    I just modified my stock harness and used the wiring info from LT1 swap . My larger (bottom)of the 2 plugs is still in the harness. Any explanation would much appreciated!

    The lower portion of the trans range switch (the 4 pin plug) tells the PCM where the shifter is. Your truck will shift, but those 4 wires should still be hooked up. They are also needed for doing the crank relearn procedure. I have driven several with and without those 4 wires hooked up. In my opinion the trans seems more refined with them hooked up.

    You don't need it. I have built 2 harnesses and neither one have that plug and they work fine.

    Why not givve the PCM the info that is was designed to have? It will work fine, but it works better with them installed.

    It still gets the same info without it....

    I don't have my PRND column indicator lights/wiring hooked up yet, out of pure laziness. Are you guys saying its a neccesity, that they be wired, for proper transmission function/health? I don't have a safety switch on the side of the tranny either, which is what(I think) they need to be wired to. Do these need to be linked/wired together? My truck seems to shift o.k. without them...but would like to know if I'm doing something wrong. Thanks
