5.3L - 6.0L swap in a 05 taho
I have been reading for two weeks on different sites, about swapping my 5.3L for a 6.0L. I have found alot of good info but nothing concrete on the swap. I am looking to do a stright swap, I know I need to reprogram the pcm. but will the LQ9 bolt right up to my 4L60E ? and will my stock rad work or do I need a bigger one?
I know the 4L60E is not the strongest but will hold up for my driving and towing that I do.
I have read alot, I feel it cant be that easy!!! what am I missing ?

I am planning to do the same thing. Thats about all there is to it. as long as you dont use a 1999-2000 6.0 because they have the longer crank flange and wont mate to the 4l60e.

I plan on mating it to my 4l6E

for the driving I do it should hold up fine. and when it goes I will beef it up a bit. I will be getting a nelson tune to make it all work at its best and for the added pulling power I will get. I know the 4L80E is a bigger transmission and other than the cross member needing modified will my transfer case bolt up and will it hold up? I haven't heard anyone talk about that. Even with all these modifications I want the truck to remain reliable and drive-able. I like to work on it but not all the time. just play. What will you be putting A 6.0L into ?

Mine is a 1999 silverado 4x4, currently has the 4.8. I may just go with a 5.3 but havnt decided yet, just kinda looking for a good deal on a good engine..Im not sure about the transfer case question you posted, not sure what you do if you change to the 4l80..
