    exhaust finally hooked up

Finally got my exhaust hooked back up to the 4.8. Its a NON acordian style y pipe into 2.5 pipe to a flow master 40 single in duel out with turndowns. Thing sounds almost stock! I don't like it. Needs something louder. Any ideas?

I'm using this exhaust, Flowmaster 17392, with this y-pipe with cats, Flowmaster 2010019 - Flowmaster Direct-Fit Catalytic Converters

It sounds great. This is on a 5.3 in a 1992 short wheel base single cab. It is all designed for 2000-2006 truck. It all fit fine besides having to make hangers. My truck is lifted though. The y-pipe does hang a bit lower than the stock 92 pipe did.

I loved the sound of the dumped manifolds but hated the back firing. I'm leaning twords son super 10's and some cut outs. Or bullet race muffler. I think I lost a little top end too.

    wow someone hates flowmaster....

I am installing dual 3" from long tubes back into a single 50 series flowmaster, dual inlet single outlet. Here is a video from the old motor... sounded great IMO.

What do all the mustangs and camaros run? I love the sound of 'em. They don't have the rumbly truck sound. Its more of a brr instead of grr lol. The truck ruble is starting to get old. Every tom dick n hairy has flow masters on there truck. Even the 4 and 6 bangers. So its looking more like some bullets or something of the worn out path.

mustangs sound the way they do because of the engine design. not the exhaust... I had flowmasters on my mustang and it sounded totally different..

Wonder what some straight pipe with a small resonator would send like, or mabey a high flow cat. Something to get rid of the back fire. Sounds like some experimental days ahead.
