I have gotten hold of a Ls 5.3 to put in my 94 truck that now has a 5.7.I believe that the 5.3 is only 285 hp stock so I will need to add some hp to move my bigg truck !!! I will be swapping in a Ls6 intake,new oil pump and pan(truck is lowered),headers,springs,hardened rods,ported heads,gasket set and a cam.Will I be able with these changes and a tune to hit around 400 hp !!!Not quite sure which cam to get yet--was leaning towards the XR265hr but I hear that is is only a few steps up from stock. Not that I want to go crasy but want something that I can notice and feel(hear too) !!! Any recomendations !! Thanks and what an awesome site !!! Look at the Texas speed 224 cam and you may want to consider keeping the truck intake. I know it's ugly but it flows very well and will make more torque than the ls6 which will help in the big truck.

I won't be the first to say this but get a custom speced cam. You will want something in the 21x/22x range if youre keeping a stock stall. If you will be going with a bigger stall then the 224/228 is a great example of an off the self option but again a custom cam would be better.
