    Rookie question here.

I am looking at an 07 6.2, trans and transfer case with 27,000 miles for my C10 short bed. Can the trans be converted over to 2wd half way easy. What is the difference from this engine and one from a car. Sorry for the questions but these are somewhat new to me. I have looked at other engines but this guy is wanting to get rid of it somewhat cheap compared to what I have found so far. It's suppose to be a L92 engine and comes with a high pressure pump (brand unknow at this time) and a stand alone harness and computer. How many horse are these engines. I had been looking at 5.7 and 6.0l LS's until I came across this one.

If your engine came from a denali or escalade it's 403 hp. The truck 6.2s were about 395 hp. Thats the L92 specs. You can google L92 and read all about it. I can't help you with the transfer case question though.

It came out of an Escalade. I did research that last night after posting this to read up on it a bit. Found out that it is a variable timing engine so not sure if that is a good thing or not.

The computer will control all the timing part so no problems there. As far as the transmission goes, it will be easier to sell the 4x4 trans and get a 2 wd 4l80e. When you send your pcm to get tuned to work in the swap vehicle, they will ask a few questions, one of which will ask what transmission your running. Also, lt1swap.com will be your best friend on the wiring. Here, and ls1tech will be big help. And Google can go a long ways. Good luck

VVT delete if you don't want that. But think most are keeping it unless going all out like silver sleeper kept VVT for along while now he's turbo'd tho and built so may have had all that stuff deleted when he sent the engine if to be built. Only thing I would personally change in it is nothing! But then again if the money isn't problem cam and VVT delete would be a great opinion. Allen can spec you a cam and sent you a harness and tune so you'll be ready to go when it's ready and all buttoned up.

As far as transmission you may be able to find a 2wd trans straight trade so you aren't ripping apart the tail shaft just to change it. Also I think the computer is in those transmissions so don't fully know it's it would be a good thing to convert to 2wd. Although I'm sure it's been done cause these setups are a dime a dozen now. Best thing to do is just forward your whole message to Ray or Allen they will give you solid transmission advice.
