Sounds like your tcc solenoid could be stuck on.

sounds like a torque converter shuddering...but u said u slapped a aftermarket one on, u can connect a scanner and look at your brake switch data while u do that mess with the brake pedal and the data should show applied when ur foot is on it, and released when its not, ive seen the brake switch intermittently start shorting and causing the tcc to lock
next time your on the highway try to engage the cruise control if it wont kick on might be cuz its reading the brake switch is applied when its not

    foggy,
It drives fine as long as I'm not going between 35/45 at a cruising speed. Which sucks because that is the speeds I have to drive from work.
Is this something I can fix? I'm trying to make a date for a trans shop to remove the converter and put an OE one back in. I'll bring this up when they're in it.
    Thanks

    Msosa,
That is what I originally fixing, tc shudder.
If the brake switch was bad wouldn't my brake lights be on?
Its funny because before I got the work done, when I originally felt the shudder is when we were going to pick up my daughter at school. I used cruise control going and coming back. When we were bring her back after break, I hit the cruise button and nothing happened. I'll have to try it again. I don't get on the highway too often so I'm limited where I can use it.

Others have mentioned its the dod/afm crap. Even though they supposedly disabled it, it still happens. Could this also be the culprit?

    Thanks guys

the brake light switch is a known problem on that year model. You make want to take a meter to it.

Does the third brake light work? Do you have aftermarket tail lights or bulbs? have you check all the fuses for the tail lights? Double check all of your fuses

I'm all for preventative maintenance. I'll go to the AutoZone tomorrow and grab a new one.

I'll have to check that third brake light in the morning. No aftermarket bulbs or lights either.
I will also check the fuses in the am as well.

Can I ask you a random question? Is there such thing as a bad tune?
My previous Tahoe had a built tranny and a Yank 3200 billet converter and that was not tuned and it ran like a champ.

Thanks blacstar, I appreciate the assistance.

I have a random question. I took out a couple of friends and pointed out the noise at 35/45 mph. The passenger in the back said "it feels/sounds like its your rear end, I felt it in my butt"

Is it possible that the rear end could be the problem?
Is it possible for the rear end to hit that sweet spot at the right speed and start to vibrate?

    Thanks

Brought it to a rear-end shop. Took it for a ride with a tech, turns out to be the pinion bearings are bad.
They're going to rebuild my rear-end and install a Detroit tru trac while they're in there.

Well, I got the rear rebuilt and had a truetrac installed. He also threw on a new link for me. It feels great, it took all the slop out of the rear. Its tighter and no clunking at all. I'm happy with it.

Unfortunately, I'm still having that noise/shudder/vibration at 30/35mph up until 40mph. Its got to be either the converter, tune or the valve body. That is all that's left.
I think I'm just going to put all OE parts back in a flash it back to the stock tune.
    This shit is so aggravating.

I just have a few questions, hopefully someone can chime in with some info.

Does it makes sense that it could be the converter because it only happens when it locks up?

When its warm out, the shudder does not feel as bad as it is when its cold. Why would that be?

Before I had the work done, it had a very slight shudder at around 43mph and the same thing would happen but it was very slight. Why would there be a change in lock up time with addition a new converter?

I could go on and on, sorry. Trying to figure this out has been a f*ckin nightmare. Especially being in a new state not knowing anyone and getting screwed by the first shop to do work for me.
    Any info would be appreciated.
    Thanks
