what did you give for your 4.8/5.3

Just wondering what most gave for there 4.8/5.3 motors with all that makes it run except after market parts (mounts, fittings, etc)
Did your local junk yard help with a package deal if that's were you got it?
90% of the ones reasonably priced (IMO) on eBay don't come with any thing but a long block.
Seems after a ebay one, and buying the "rest" of the motor, you could buy an ls1 off craigslist damn near.
    Thanks guys!

How do you come across a deal like that? Even more, 2 deals like that. I picked up my 05' for $1150, this came complete with all accessories, wiring harness, fusebox, electronic gas pedal with TAC, exhaust. The engine had less than 35K miles on it. I scored an 04' trans out of a 4-door silverado that rolled over at 13K miles for a trade with a local salvage yard owner. I saved alot by doing all my own machining and fabricating. I wish I would come across a running 5.3 for a $100!

I picked up my jeep's motor complete for 450
I've picked up another 53 short block for 200
Picked up my old 48 long block for 250

Both the 53 and 48 had under 25k

these don't have accessories, but theyre complete other wise, I just keep an ear out, ive never paid more than 350 for any motor that's what I paid for my long block 6.0, and it was also running when it was pulled, was just burning some oil.

There was a long block about 2hrs from here a month or so ago before I had the money for 250 but it had 300+k on it and its gone
The cheapest long block I can find around is 450-500 with out the acc pcm or harness
Seems steep for a massively produced motor

I bought a rolled over Tahoe chassis from a body shop for $300. sold the trans, rear end, frame and my 4.3l. the swap actually paid me
also look for express vans 3500 that have 6.0l and 4l80.

you don't even want to hear about the deals i got on both my 02 LS1's. both were complete, motor, trans, harnesses, & ECU's. one had 45k & the other 35K. just have to be in the right place at the right time.
first one i bought, the guy was swapping it into a mustang. by time i pulled everything & sold the mustang i'm into the motor/trans $300. the second was from 2 guys wanting to swap it into a 240. my friend & i went to look at the 240 for him & the guy who's grandmothers house it was all at said they had a chevy small block that his grandmother wanted out the garage. needless to say it was a complete LS1 & i picked that one up for $600, sold the 4l60e for $600 so i basically got the second motor for free.
