    CaRaZy's BURB - lq4 twin turbo project

Hey guys, been reading endless amounts of threads on this site for a while for info on my current project. I figured it is time to introduce myself. I build transmissions for a living so if anyone needs help I will try my best to help. Its kind of me giving back to the site for what it gives to me with all the info available.

I have owned a 1995 Suburban K2500 w/ 454 and 4L80E forever it was my first ride and i'm turning 30 in a month. . . I did a lot to the truck 10 years ago; the whipple, built 454, trans, paint, body accessories, wheels, stereo system, tvs, etc and did a lot of national shows and it did very well, won a bunch. Well 10 years later she is going under the knife again and I am pulling the 454 tbi and whipple out (it is up for sale if anyone interested message me) and I have a LQ4 out of a 2005 Yukon Xl Denali with only 56k. Its going to be a slow process but I am doing a twin turbo setup and it gets done when it gets done kind of thing because I have a 2010 Sierra Denali that I use as my regular ride. While the weight on the front will change from the lighter engine I plan on taking a look at the suspension to see if I can bring the truck down a little to reduce wheel gap. Not sure if much have come out for 2500 Suburban suspensions since the last time I was modifying it. I'm updating a few things cosmetically to freshen it up and put some new tires under it.

I look forward to sharing the progress on here once I get the engine pulled out in a week or so. Just trying to find the time. I pulled the trans and tcase already.

I could use some pointers from guys that have already one this swap/build. I plan to just do a very mild cam, springs etc. The 6.0 is spotless and relatively low mileage. I also do not want to run high boost or do anything crazy with a nutty cam or anything. My goal is to pop the hood and have a WOW engine compartment and good performance. I have the connection for all the piping so that is not an issue. I figured if I keep the boost around 10 lbs with a good tune I can be pretty safe. Figuring out what set of turbos to use is another. Seems like people have so many different opinions, I rather talk to someone that has done it before with some numbers.

Wow looks super clean. I really like what you have done with it. I had a 98 burb in high school so the interior is all too familiar. Excited to see where you take it. I would suggest an isky boost cam and for turbos twin 60s should work really nicely. Good luck man.

I had my eye on the PTE 6266s but if I can save a little and have as good performance and reliability with a Magnum I would go that route. Just so many options.

Yeah finding out I can get the front off the ground was cool. However its rolling in first not from a dead stop. Still a lot of weight to get coming off the ground.

Finally some progress. Whipple is off and engine is a few bolts away from being lifted out. They need a new home to help further fund my project.

Thanks, it went down the track on 22s and nothing taken out... not even the subs which weigh 76lbs each lol.

With a wonderful 2.13 60' (sense the sarcasm) it ran a 14.7 @ 92mph - Atco Raceway. Truck stock with a hypertech piggyback prom went 17.3 and I don't remember the trap. Problem is, she's fat and needs some tire under her but I couldn't see myself spending money on slicks for just a pass or two and no one had 8lug wheels with slicks that I knew.

So im ready to start getting a shopping list going. I have to pick the cam out and get whatever else I need to button up the engine so I can get it ready for paint. I am still trying to do research on finding some tested setups. I found a couple that kept the heads stock just did springs and pushrods and didnt touch the bottom end which is what I would prefer.

Anyone have a link to some good reading for me? Also for the money difference is Magnum the way to go or should I spring for one of the bigger brands? I havent seen any test from one turbo to another on same setup? I want to be able to make an investment and have pride in talking about my setup when at shows or the track and talk up what I have and hope to have that brand/company be there if I needed help.

I shot a pm to Farmtruc and an email down to Erica at Nelson because from what I read they are who to talk to. So hopefully they can give me some guidance and I can just get the harness and tune from them instead of piecing stuff together from all over. I have PSI conversions nearby where I am from but I am the kind of guy that likes being loyal to a supplier. I need to find someone I can trust for a good tune and info. Up here in Jersey, there arent many shops I know interested in trucks. I dealt with that back when I did the whipple.

Looks really clean very similar to how I want to set mine up just less the intake and stuff. Whats all done to the engine? Turbo size? Also 2 BOVs? What brand is the intercooler? Its pretty much what I was planning to do, I like the 2 to 1s flipped and have the upp pipe coming from bottom.
