Thread: Project Eyesore 90 rcsb

I also cut the tranny crossmember and modified it to bolt into the inside of the frame and lay completely flat. Unfortunately I didnt get pics.
I also started to modify the 90 seat brackets to bolt in some nice newer seats. The new seat sits lower so I cut 3 inches off the original seat brackets to use.

Along the way I noticed the truck had too many small items missing to complete it. I found a complete silverado with no engine and picked it up for less than 200 bucks.
The outside is rough but the interior and all the wiring and hardware is in great shape.

And I also made a trip up to ekstensive metal works and picked up a 4-link kit and a better transmission for the project.

So now that the engine sat nicely and with the tranny crossmember in place it was time to raise the tranny tunnel. I cut it and raised it at an angle 2.5 inches up front then filled it in, welded it up, ground it down and seam sealed it up.

I also got started on the four link. The round bars are a little too weak for a bar mounted bag in my opinion. Istead of undergusseting them i modified the square tube lower bars that were originally a two link to use as lower bars since the mount for the bag was already there.
I didnt get pic of them all welded up tho.

I had to make a decision on keeping the column shift or going to a center console shifter.
Since the truck is bodydropped and im using a newer 4l60e the mechanical linkage for shifting wasnt going to work.
I chose to eliminate it and run a console shifter. I had to shorten the column by two inches due to the steering shaft coming in to contact with the upper control arm when the truck is fully deflated.

Here is a shot of the modified column on the right and the stock one on the left.

All buttoned up and painted. Then back in the truck.

I also got a major hurdle crossed off my list.
I got the harness ready for a stand-alone.
I also custom routed the wires for a cleaner appearance.

    Heres the stock mess.

A ton of un-needed connectors and plugs removed

Wires labeled and grouped for fusing later.

I plugged the harness in to make sure I had all the correct plugs still on. Here it is stock style.

I pulled the looming all off and started to custom route all the wires.

All the excess wire pulled aside.

And it may not look like it but that engine is fully wired.

The rats nest that needs to be dealt with now.

The exact same thing but off the engine. All connections nicely grouped.

And the rats nest that needs to be sored out.

After a few hours of unpinning, shortening and sorting each wire my vision was as blurred as this pic lol. But overall way cleaner than before.

And a shot of everything fully wired

The wires will enter the cab behind the intake for a very clean look.

Awesome build man Keep up the good work. Are you using stock upper and lower control arms on the front?

Are you gonna add the center console to match the seats?

    Thanks Trey,
It was set up to lay 24s on stock uppers and lowers before the bodydrop. I wont be running anything that big.
I plan to swap out the stamped uppers for modified 25/3500 tubular uppers and keep the modified stock lowers for now.
I just cant justify spending the kind of money on a built set that most places want for them.
