I'm looking to buy a 93ish to 98ish truck. It's got to have a 4l80e. What trucks should I be looking for?

Ok thanks for the heads up I'll check that out. The reason I am asking is because I have this plan to buy a truck to get me through this winter then in the spring time pull the 80e out of it and use it for my 1/2 ton. So it would be a win win situation. So I was wondering if anyone knew specifically what trucks 94-98 came with an 80e. Or is it jus pretty much any 2500 truck?
I'll try to narrow this down, I just want to be sure. I found a 92 2500 that's pretty nice. It should have an 80e. If it does, does someone know if they are the same as a newer model and would I be able to use it?
there are several changes throughout the years but they will all bolt up and work just the same. the newer ones have the return oil line moved back a few inches above a bearing i think to help lube it. but i think thats the only real external difference your going to see afaik... i just threw a 95 80e out of a 1 ton van in my truck. needed a full rebuild but it works great.
and yes any 3/4 ton+ truck/van will have it. i think some 1500's may have but im not sure. to be safe just look for at leas a 3/4.
you can verify by crawling under and counting pan bolts. 60e's have 16 and 80e's have 17. if you dont want to get dirty and know for sure its the original trans then look in the glove box for the RPO codes either MT1 or MN8. those are for the 80e's
hope that helps your search.

Yes that helps a ton thanks so much. I also found out 91-93 80e's have the old style connector that won't work for anything 94 and above.
84 K3500 Suburban, 05' 6.0L, forged, balanced, studded, boosted, 4L80E, NP205, D60/FF-14B, 37x12.50's.
98 K2500 Suburban, currently undergoing 6.0L conversion
From what I've read they changed in 94. Another thing I found is the 6 lug 2500's had a 4l60e and only the 8 lug trucks had the 80e. I've got some choice words about that.
The older 80e's will work if you upgrade the plug and internal harness to the newer style.
