Whichever you use, whether Dirty Dingo or engine plates, they need to be the 1" set back type for the Old Body Style truck(OBS). I ordered standard plates for my '93 and it placed the engine 1" forward of where it should have been. That's why I'm inclined to say that you need the 1" setback plates so you don't have any driveshaft/crossmember issues.
I used plates so I could use the original "clamshell" mounts from original 5.7 engine. Some plates have fitment issues that need to be addressed. Since I ordered the wrong ones, I didn't have any fitment issues. The 1" setback plates may cause fitment issues but are easily remedied with a 4" high speed grinder.

I used the trans dapt 1" setback plates and the only thing that needed to be done was grind them in certain areas for clearance. When you get them and try to fit them to the block you will see what I mean. You used the original truck clamshells but cut out the middle section because it doesnt sit flat with it there and also I had to cut down the bolts that mount the clamshell to the plate or it would bottom out before it tightened and you dont have to used the nuts that it comes with. I put them on and dropped the engine in like it was meant to be there no prybar to make it fit nothin the long bolts slid right in

Could I use the 1" set backs on my v6 mounts ? Or do I have to change it either way.

U have to use the v8 mounts then the transdap or dingo, mine were worn out so I replaced them too, make sure to invest on some crowsfoot sockets for swaping them out, believe me they made the job a whole lot easier
