    5.3 in an 07 dodge 1500?

Anybody made a swap like this b4? My friend has 1 and the 4.7 craped out on him. And it's like 3 grand to replace. I fig it would be cheaper to swap in a 5.3. What u guys think

A 5.3 motor is cheaper, but the conversion process would be pricey. It can be done, but I would think a junkyard 4.7 could be found for a lot less than 3k.

It would be a nightmare to say the least. If it were me I'd pull every bit of wiring out of the truck, and start fresh.

A junk jard 4.7 is right around 1500 for a long block, but then there's that wonder when it will go bad. There is an issue with these motors I guess and all of them have the same issue at some time. They say that it's very costly to do a 5.7 swap from dodge. I was just asking cause he will be back from deployment next month and want to get it back on the road. I was thinking a 5.3 swap could go under 2 grand but Thot I'd ask some of you

I have no cam bro, you read wrong. I do have a 2000 silverado lifted on 33s, 05 5.3l, built 4l60e trans, 4.10 gears, Detroit Tru track, all leather, all power, cowl hood, new paint, pro comp suspension, pro comp rims and tires. Just a few facts for you so next time you talk crap you don't look like the fool.

    Thumbs down

Coming from a guy the was huge into modding Rams don't do it...

Leave it a 4.7 unless you plan a stand alone and running a GM trans also.

The good thing about Rams is the differential is tough and so are the axles! Not like the POS G80s

That's what he was talking bout doing, a 5.3 harness n computer from Nelson, wasn't sure if there's an adaptor for the dodge bell housing or not, but a GM trans isn't out of the question, just need his speedo and stuff to work also the dodge bcm so all the windows and such still work.
