    Stall Converter Question

I wanted to pick everyone's brain about what to do about a TC. I drive a '05 SS with AWD and I'm leaning towards a bigger stall. I've read a lot on here about the size of the TC affecting the trans temp. I was thinking about going with about a 10.5 Circle D with about a 3000 stall. The tranny has a shift kit and I was wondering if that size stall would fall in the grey area of performance and longevity. I guess I'm assuming a higher stall will put more strain on the trany on top of it being AWD. Is this assumption wrong? I would really like to go with a higher stall but I know how weak these 65e's can be.

Our trucks need larger transmission coolers regardless of modifications. So definitely upgrade if you haven't already. One large trans cooler should be fine for that converter.
3000 isn't too loose and should perform well.

Thanks for the info Allen. I'll for sure add a bigger cooler before the TC goes in.

So even with a 2600 stall in my daily should I be running a 40K cooler? or am I fine with the factory cooler?

Yes you should get a bigger cooler. A 40k is a great option factory isn't enough in my stock truck.

Allen, I plan on ordering a tune from you soon. I've been saving for a wedding so money has been tight but after September the flood gates are gonna open. This tune I have now just isn't cutting it.

About time you hopped up that rig sir! Do the tru cool 40k and never worry about temps again. I ran a yank 3200 in my ss. It had good manors and towed well to. A shift kit and servo are cheap upgrades you could do like you mentioned.

The previous owner claims he took the truck to a transmission shop and had a shift kit put in and had the guy go through and replace anything worn. I just ordered a corvette servo today. I'm gonna order a tune from Allen soon and do the tranny cooler and TC shortly thereafter. Can you get the servo cover o-ring at parts stores or do you have to order them online?
