ill keep an eye for your thread but just in case, post the link here when you get it started. i def want to check it out.

as for the oil cooler, from what i read, its not really NEEDED as most guys just block it off and they have no problems. but i figured since GM had it factory, and i do plan on pulling a boat in the near future, any extra cooling is benficial. so the extra 100 bucks for the parts was fine with me. plus, who can resist the cool looking braided lines and AN fittings!!!???? haha!!!

hit me up if you have any quesions. more than glad to help ya out.
It's dropped 4/6, but I am not doing a CARB legal swap. I'm in Oregon and they just sniff the exhaust without even popping the hood.

I'll look into the oil cooler a little more, but I am thinking I will add the lines especially if it was just 100 more. Plus I get braided ss hose and AN fittings lol.

I'll post that link but it won't be for at least another month. I am graduating next month and am swamped with school work and getting other projects at home finished up.

    Keep up the good work!

Edit- so I noticed you looked for the pf48 or whatever filter that was. Is there a reason you didn't swap the fitting in the oil pan so you could use the truck filter instead?

The motor was already in the truck and I just couldn't get enough leverage to break it loose from under there. Not much space. Had to go to the auto parts store anyway to get some things and it was only 5 bucks. So I said screw it. Lol

I'm always puttering with the truck anyway. Checking for leaks, etc.. While the hood's up, I check the oil. I have roughly 6500 miles since the swap and I've changed the oil and filter 3 times.
As for how long it goes before getting brown, I guess that would depend on how clean the engine is inside. The only cover I pulled the was the rear main seal cover to replace the seal. By the looks from there, the engine was fairly clean inside(relatively speaking) considering it had 140,000 on it when it went in. I guess I get around 2000 or so miles before it's getting brown enough to change.

    Got it, makes sense lol.

Did you end up finding a deal on the oil pan anywhere? I figured I might as well start looking now so I'm not held back by parts when I start working on the swap again. Cheapest I found is this:
    http://www.ebay.com/itm/200921584954...84.m1423.l2649

Oh one more thing that's different with my swap is that I have an NV3500. So don't have to worry about tranny wiring.

No don't get that! Thats not an ls1 pan! That's an aftermarket pan they try and advertise that will fit anything. It won't work. It will still hang to low. U need an ls1 only pan. Maybe an ls2...?? I saw that too but luckily a member posted a couple pages back that that it wouldn't work before I bought it. unless ur lucky, its gonna be hard to find one for a good deal. I had to sac up and pay 250 cuz I needed it immediately. But it was new and came with everything needed. Theres an article that shows the diff pans and dimensions. Gto won't work either cuz its a front sump. Ill find the link and post it.

Thanks for the heads up, I'll keep looking. Have you added the oil pan kit to your list of part numbers? If worst comes to worst I'll just pick up the same kit.

Just to add more information on oil pans. This link has some part numbers that the s10 site doesn't. Mostly the same pans. Hope you don't mind me throwing it up here as well.

well i got some bad news. it wont start. it will crank but wont fire. im sure its something misswired but i dont know where to start. the fuel pump relay is not getting a signal from the pcm. i jumped the terminals to make sure the new pump worked and also to get fuel up to the motor and my gauge read 60psi so all is good there. that tells me there is no injectors or spark or both. and my scanner wont connect to the pcm either. SOUNDS like the computer isnt on but that cant be the case because the pcm makes the starter relay ground, and since my starter is turning, then the computer must be working...right??? But when i turn the key to on, i can hear the TB self adjusting. the computer controls that right? and by the way, i can hear it inside the cab, that sucker is loud....is it supposed to be that loud?

obviously the next thing im going to do is check out my wiring but how can i check the pcm?? i dont know why my scanner doesnt connect. should i post this in the troubleshooting area? maybe ill get ore responses there?

Was your PCM flashed to remove the VATS? Seems like VATS is cutting out the fuel injectors. It might be something else minor too. Don't overlook anything. When you're this close, check for the things that are obvious and not-so-obvious.

Not sure if PCM is supposed to be that loud. I can't tell if mine's that loud since it's mounted under the hood. I've never heard it but I will listen for it in the future to see if it makes any noise.
