Something is wrong there. That doesnt look familiar to me. I dont think Ive seen anyone use those big mounts before (although I havent seen everything). I always thought you were supposed to use the early mounts like you can get from Energy Suspension.

I don't recall having a problem, but, then again I don't have the 1" setback plates either. I will take a pic tomorrow and let you know what's up. Hmmmmm,,,,,,, you've got me thinking now.

After looking at your pic, I recall using 3 bolts to mount my plate to the block. The fourth bolt was actually the bottom bolt for the clamshell, thus putting the clamshell higher on the block. In other words, I had 6 holes in my plates, not 7. My 4 holes across the top of the plate were all in line, not offset like yours. Mine also doesn't have the hole for the dimple in the clamshell. I had to heat my clamshells and beat the dimple flat due to my plates not having the hole.

Compare these 2 sets of plates:

Yours are like the first pair.
Mine are like the 2nd pair, with the exception of the dimple hole.

    This is what's needed:

hey ccreddell. i just realized your the one that was helping me out with my suspension over on gmt400. whats up man. and i think 95baggin who is on the first page of my thread is on that sight too. thats cool. i think you are misunderstanding what im saying. im not talking about the bracket for the a/c im moving the ac up top cuz i dont want to notch the frame. what i mean is that the clamshell part of the original motor mount will not fit onto my adapter plates because the bottom part is hitting the bolt hole where the ac bracket is supposed to go. the pic below shows the 4 holes the ac bracket mounts to circled in red. the one with the arrow is what the clamshell is hitting which keeps it off the bracket about 3/8" - 1/2"

and i think what mikey is saying about the 1" set back is my problem. i can see how yours wouldnt hit due to it being further toward the back thus just barely missing the bolt hole. but i went with the 1" set backs as you recomended earlier on in the thread. which is the same as the first link that you just posted. that puts the bracket right above the ac bolt hole as you can see in the second picture i posted which is what my clamshell is hitting.

so i can only see 3 options.
    1) grind the ac bolt hole down (which id prefer not to do. dont want to damage the block)
    2) notch out the clamshell for it to seat correctly
    3) use some washers to space it off the bracket

but i think number 3 would push the clamshells too far side to side and make it not fit. i know others have had to use these setback mounts but why i have i not seen anyone mention this issue. i cant be the only one thats run into this. what do you suggest i do?

and jsut fyi, the oil cooler lines are also in the way completely so they have to go. i want to keep the cooler so will be running some braided lines utilizing this adapter http://www.ebay.com/itm/171014110714...84.m1423.l2649 ill post pics once the lines are run.

I am doing my first swap also. I bought the 1" set back mounts also but didnt do any reading so I didnt know I had to grind the back of the clamshells. I just bolted them down evenly and set it in place with no problems. I do need to the lift the engine back up to drop the pan so I was going to grind them down when I did that but I might now worry about it now seeing the issue your having.

well if yours is spaced off then that would be the same as me putting washers behind the bracket to push it out. you didnt have any issues getting the two bolts to go through the rubber mounts when you dropped it in? if not then i might as well use some spacers. just sux cuz i spent a ton of time cutting and grinding that stupid hump off the back!! lol

Nope I didnt have any issues with them lining up on the frame mounts. I was hoping to use the LS ac compressor but there is no way with those mounts so I am just going to do the 4.3 bracket. It seems to work for others

Yeah, using that method will allow you to use your existing A/C lines-at least it looks that way. As far as the mounts go, Im thinking the early model mounts might work better.
