The Explorer 8.8 is 59.5" from flange to flange stock and 57" if you use two short axles and have the one side shortened. Doing this will also center the pinion instead of keeping it offset.

Nice build bro, just read all pages, will it be ready for any upcoming track events this month?
5.3 with some B(.)(.)ST......Coming Soon
i wish. i'm in no rush on it. it will probably be a few more months until it is ready. still need to re-do all of the factory brake lines, wire a lot of stuff, run a fuel system, relocate battey, have the rear end cut down, install spring sliders, and i'm sure i will find a few surprises along the way. it's close, but my wrench time is limited.
Yea I know the feeling, working 6/12s and I have 2 kids to feed....wrench time disappears fast....keep up with the updates, coming along nicely....btw great find on the truck for so cheap

last weekend i sat down for a few hours with the wiring harness and started depinning 1 wire at a time. damn i hate wiring! anyways EVERYTHING works and there are no loose un-needed wires. just need to loom it all up. last night i finished up painting the front bumper, grill and modifying the factory headlight harness to work with the 98+ setup. all of this satin black up front makes me want to paint the entire truck satin.
hopefully time is on my side this weeknd and i can get the fuel system installed and hear it idle. i'm also giving tint a shot this weekend for the first time. i got some 3m 5% precut tint off of ebay. hopefully i dont F up a $90 kit lol. rear end still needs to be cut/rebuilt, a new driveshaft needs to be made and the ass end needs to come down another 2". currently it sits dead level hub to hub, but the rear tires are 2" taller than the fronts and it looks jacked up in the ass end. we will see where it sits after the fuel cell, rear bumper 8" rear with slightly taller perches and the spring sliders.

Baby shampoo and water mix for the tint keep it wet and warm and you'll be fine, as for the truck this thing is sick!!! So glad your doing it once and right instead of throwin something together and hoping it runs alright GL on the rest and keep us updated!!!
1 tsp of baby shampoo. Don't go more than that. Unscented as well. Watch youtube videos. It will help.

The company i got the tint kit from seems legit. they are sending me the precut 3m tint with a lifetime warranty against fading, a baby shampoo/water mix, an instructional video, a hard card, razor, lint free towels and a squeegie thing to do it with. my door panels are currently off so hopefully it will be a little easier. the hardest thing will be keeping contaminates out since the door panels are off. i may hose down the inside of the doors tonight in preperation.
That little sucker looks sick sitting on big n littles. Any more pics?
