Thread: 5 speed standard from 4.3 to a 5.3 swap?

    It's rare, but a few 5.3s came with this trans. At least I've read that somewhere. As for the 4.8 parts, almost everything is identical to the 5.3. Just order get the 4.8 parts from Napa and you'll be good to go.

    yep - even the GM parts catalog says the 4.8 & 5.3 clutch stuff was the same, so it'll work.
    00 FRC - just top end, exhaust, and a hot-air intake

    I ran a nv3500 with a cammed 6.0 4x4. I got a solid 6 months out of it lol. Mine had a 100k on it when i did the swap, so it wasnt fresh at all and it was the stock clutch. But i really dont know how much longer a fresh one would of lasted to be honest. But it was a winter truck so it saw an awful lot of 4x4 in 12" of snow too. Either way it was fun
