will this oil pan kit work on a OBS

Wondering if anyone here has used this kit on a OBS? The price is alot better than I can find on the camaro oil pan that I used on my swap when I put a 5.3 into my 94 model

The truck oil fits the obs trucks. It hangs a little but ok if ur truck isn't slammed

I'll be putting a 4/6 kit on the truck.... forgot to mention that when I asked about the pan

Good question as to whether that hot rod pan will fit. I'd like to know also cause it would make the swap a lot easier,but a little more expensive. I have a 4/6 drop on my 1990 truck and I took a sawsall to the truck pan and sectioned it 1-1/2 inches. You lose 1 quart of oil which makes it a 5 quart pan. The pan fits perfect and is dead even with the bottom of the x-member. The trick is to find someone to weld it for a reasonable price.(or free, lol)

That was simply the only thing you did? Did you only section the part that hangs too low or did you section the entire panitself.

I have a friend who's a skilled aluminum welder and would have no problem with that task,,, care to post a pic of your modified pan so I can show it to him, I am sure I can get the pan sectioned for less than the price of a new one

First I determined how much needed to be removed by measuring down from the motor mount holes to the bottom of the x-member,then drew two lines around the pan with a fine quickie marker, with a 1 1/2" space between them. I cut off the bottom first,retaining the oil drain plug,then cut off the section to be removed. The bottom part of the pan will not mate up perfectly due to the taper of the pan,but there is enough material to weld to.Just take your time and cut slowly to stay on the lines.It's very rewarding to fab something up and make it work! I wish I knew how to post pictures,I saved the section I took out.

What did you do for dipstick and pickup tube?Just curious.My truck is pretty low and the truck oil pan has plenty of clearance but it does hang lower than the front crossmember.

The pick-up tube and brace that supports it has to be modified(cut/shortened/&braized or welded). Use clay to get the clearance right. The dipstick is ok the way it is. I found the instructions on how to post pictures so I'll do my best to get them up.

That's some good info kevhill85. I have a 1991 farmbody (aka) ck 1500 sbrc,it's bagged planning a 5.3 swap.
