Ok so im swapping a 5.3 into a 89 reg cab Chevy. Can I use the factory trans? And then just tune the ecm to not need the trans?

Awesome. Do I need to use the 350 flywheel or the 5.3 flywheel. Cause I dont think the converter in the 89 trans mounts to the 5.3 flywheel. Maybe it does

These are the parts you will need to adapt to an earlier transmission. Be aware you also have to egg shape the torque converter holes on the flywheel.

And if you are bold I've heard of guys just putting washers in between the torque converter and flywheel instead to save money. I wouldn't suggest this method.

Everything above is true. Also you will have to make a bracket to hold the detention cable. This cable must be hooked up to the throttle blade if you are going to use your 700r4.
