GMT-400 gauge pod/trans temp gauge opinons

So I need to get a trans temp gauge and I don't really plan on getting any other gauges for a LONG time, I would go for the Aeroforce gauge but I can't afford that right now. I can't decide whether to get an analog or digital gauge, the digital would be easier to know an exact number instantly but it doesn't really go well with my stock gauges but the analog is cheaper and matches my stock gauges.

Also for a gauge pod it seems I'm limited to just mounting one on top of my existing A-pillar but I'm not sure of how it would fit and I'd really rather to not have my gauge that visible so I can have less risk of someone breaking in my truck.

Also considering the Scangauge II but I'm worried that no matter how I mount it, it would look cheesy. Looks like it could maybe fit in the pocket where the factory CD player would go but then again it may not.

Looking at prices on ebay that's actually not too bad, what exactly is that out of? IIRC OBS trucks had an overhead console about 3 times that length, never seen one that size in one.

its out of the 99+ trucks, the console itself is cheap but then you would have to buy a socal gauge pod ($125) or have one made. Ive seen stock clusters opened and a gauge mounted in there but im not sure if the OBS cluster has room. On mine i cut out one of my cig lighter holes bigger to fit my air fuel gauge, its nice and discreet and was free to mount

So now I've got a plan in my head, get an overhead console and put the gauges up there. I'm thinking I could get a piece of plexiglass, cut to fit, paint the back side silver, and drill a hole in the middle for my single gauge. I figure I can always take it back out and drill a couple more holes once I get to the point of needing more gauges.

Now how exactly do gauges actually stay in the pod, does the gauge just fit in the hole extremely snug or what?

Yep, just cut the hole the right diameter and the gauge will press right in. That is how all the pillar pods are. Good luck
