not everyone is as tall as you luke. but i don't see why you couldn't get the bracket and use some panel bonding adhesive. i think your idea of using a piece of metal will work just remember to insulate it so it won't rattle against the roof

yeah, go to an auto body supplier and tell them what you are trying to do. They make a bonding agent that is used to stick new steel panels to old steel when replacing bed sides and such.

The firewall is the only thing I know of that is double walled, the roof is a single piece of sheet metal, and in some cases they use a spray in insulating foam to help better with noise and temperature.

i did this in my 97 truck you dont need all the holes that it came with just chop they tabs off and use some 3/4 inch self tapping screws the roof is a double wall deal so just screw till it barely catches then do it hand tight and viola. i even put in a compass/temp mirror while i was in there wiring more stuff in.

Yeah I guess it really doesnt need much to actually hold it into place. Has anyone experienced problems with it sagging, or bouncing around at all?

From what I gathered out of Luke, this truck doesn't have that double wall, its just a shell no brace.

I have had a few issues with mine sagging during the summer from the heat... But I just have to let it cool off and tighten it back up.
