Slot the holes about 1/8" where they go into the frame on both sides to pull the mounts out further. I'd just take the exhaust off until you are done with the install and fight that battle later.

I know the 88-98 body trucks have different chasis. Here's what I had to do to get my 5.3 to sit properly on the V8 frame brackets:
Brackets (Upside Down) with slotted holes (approx 3/4")
Brackets spotted in place
Pass-side mount point
Slotting the frame brackets allowed me to move the brackets upward/outward, thus giving the right distance to line up with the motor mount brackets that were bolted to the block. I had to really look at your last pic. With that in mind, looks like you'll be doing what RedHeartBeat said. For my '86, I had to drill more than 1/8". Take your time, and you'll get it right.

From what I see in the picture, the tabs in the poly mounts are angled wrong. That motor should drop right in without having to grind on anything. You should be able to loosen the polymounts and the notches on the motor mount brackets should slide right on top of the poly tabs. Did the poly mounts come with the casings or did you use the factory one's? Looks like the poly inserts themselves need to be turned 180 degrees by the looks of the pictures.

Well, it was a PITA to change them, and now I get to do it again. I thought you might be right, but it ended up making the top tabs closer together, and the lowers further apart.
Who ever thought putting in a motor would be this hard.![]()

Mine was a pig also in this 93 truck. I still have the rubber mounts and had to pry and leverage them around to get the bolts through the mounts.

98hd, Sorry for the pain bro! I should have told you to measure the tabs first before pulling them. Sometimes it's hard to judge by a picture but we gotta try. If you haven't installed the mounts you might want to try taking them to an auto parts store and comparing them to the factory mounts. There's just something that doesn't look right with the poly mounts and I can't pinpoint it.
Here's some more pics, hope they help. Now we can compare a little better.
That's it! The difference I see is that your tabs are slanted sideways and mine are sitting vertical. That will push your tab centers more towards the middle of the crossmember 1/8" to 1/4" on each side. Does it look that way to anyone else? If you looka at your first picture under mine you can see the tab isn't sitting parallel with the motor mount casing.
